My nightmares play like a video game. If I get too overwhelmed when something is chasing me then I can just pause the dream. I have all the time and space in the world to think about things and calm myself down while the world is frozen. Sometimes I can choose to 'quit' the game which forces me to wake up. I wish I could pause time in real life too when things get too scary.
